About the College
Built to serve a region, and to train its doctors.
Prafulla Chandra Sen Government Medical College & Hospital began when the Government of West Bengal opened the college under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, Phase II. Spread across more than 20.128 acres in the heart of Arambagh town, Hooghly, it sits on SH7 — about 90 km from Kolkata, with road and rail connectivity.
The college started with an intake of 100 MBBS students in the 2022–23 session, admitting qualified candidates through NEET-UG counselling (All-India & State quotas) while maintaining stipulated reservation norms. Girls' and boys' hostels are supervised by hostel superintendents.
