About the department
The Department of Ophthalmology provides comprehensive eye care services including cataract surgery, glaucoma management, retinal evaluation and low-vision rehabilitation. The department conducts outreach eye camps for rural communities and participates in the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), while training MBBS Phase III students and postgraduate candidates. DNB seats in Ophthalmology are offered at PCSGMCH.
Services
- Cataract surgery — phacoemulsification and SICS / ECCE
- Glaucoma management including laser trabeculoplasty
- Retinal evaluation, laser photocoagulation and intravitreal injections
- Squint correction and paediatric ophthalmology
- Outreach eye camps and National Blindness Control Programme
- MBBS Phase III ophthalmology teaching and DOMS/MS postgraduate training

- Ophthalmic OPD with slit-lamp biomicroscopes and refraction units
- Cataract and vitreoretinal operation theatre
- Phacoemulsification and SICS surgical setup
- Retinal examination suite (indirect ophthalmoscope, fundus camera)
- Glaucoma clinic with Goldmann applanation tonometry
- Low-vision clinic and orthoptic assessment unit
