About the department
The Emergency Department at PCSGMCH operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing immediate triaged care for all medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric emergencies. As the only government medical college serving Arambagh and neighbouring Tarakeswar, Goghat and Khanakul blocks, it handles a high volume of road traffic accidents, acute coronary events, poisoning cases, obstetric emergencies and mass casualty incidents.

- Trauma management — road traffic accidents, crush injuries, burns
- Acute coronary syndrome and stroke triage and stabilisation
- Toxicology / poisoning — lavage, antidote administration
- Neonatal and paediatric emergency resuscitation
- Mass casualty and disaster response coordination

- Triage desk with Red / Yellow / Green zone segregation
- Trauma resuscitation room with ATLS capability
- Emergency OT access via dedicated corridor
- Ventilator-equipped stabilisation bays
- Point-of-care diagnostics — ECG, glucometry, ABG analyser, rapid malaria/dengue tests
- Dedicated ambulance bay and emergency vehicle access road
