About the department
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides comprehensive maternal and reproductive healthcare to women from Arambagh and the wider Hooghly district. The department manages high-risk pregnancies, conducts institutional deliveries, handles obstetric emergencies and offers gynaecological surgical services. It is a key teaching unit for MBBS Phase III students and MD/MS residents. DNB seats in Obstetrics & Gynaecology are offered at PCSGMCH.
Services
- Antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care
- Normal and operative (LSCS) institutional deliveries
- Management of high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies
- Gynaecological surgeries including laparoscopy and hysterectomy
- Family planning — IUCD insertion, laparoscopic sterilisation
- Cervical cancer screening and colposcopy clinic
Facilities
- Labour room with cardiotocography (CTG) and fetal monitoring
- Dedicated obstetric operation theatre
- Antenatal and postnatal wards
- Gynaecology ward and day-care surgical unit
- Colposcopy and LEEP facility for cervical lesions
- Ultrasonography unit (obstetric and gynaecological, including anomaly scan)
